CBN GOVERNOR OLAYEMI CARDOSO LEADS NIGERIA’S DELEGATION TO WORLD BANK/IMF MEETINGS
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC, United States.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Cardoso will represent Nigeria in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.
The meetings, which attract global financial leaders, economists, and policymakers, are expected to focus on key issues such as global economic stability, monetary policy coordination, debt sustainability, and strategies to address inflation and currency challenges in developing economies.
Cardoso’s leadership of the Nigerian delegation comes at a time when the country is grappling with rising inflation, currency depreciation, and the implementation of fiscal and monetary reforms aimed at stabilising the economy.
The annual World Bank/IMF meetings provide a platform for Nigeria to engage with international partners, seek investment opportunities, and discuss strategies for promoting macroeconomic stability and sustainable growth.
