CARABAO CUP: SWANSEA JOIN BRENTFORD, CRYSTAL PALACE, GRIMSBY IN FOURTH ROUND
Swansea City staged a dramatic comeback on Wednesday night to book their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round, defeating Nottingham Forest 3-2 after a thrilling encounter.
Forest looked comfortable after Igor Jesus scored twice, giving them a two-goal cushion. But the game turned around in the final 20 minutes as Swansea refused to give up.
Cameron Burgess sparked hope for the Welsh side with a powerful header in the 70th minute. Substitute Zan Vipotnik then struck deep into stoppage time (93rd minute) to level the score at 2-2, just as the game seemed destined for penalties.
The drama didn’t stop there. Burgess popped up again just four minutes later to grab his second goal of the night, completing a stunning turnaround and sending Swansea into the next round.
With the win, Swansea join Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Grimsby Town as the first four clubs to qualify for the Carabao Cup fourth round.
The rest of the third-round fixtures will be played on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24, when more teams will fight for a place in the next stage of the competition.
