Twelve clubs have now booked their places in the Carabao Cup fourth round following Tuesday night’s fixtures.

Liverpool advanced after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Southampton. New signing Alexander Isak netted his first goal for the Reds before the Saints equalised. Substitute Hugo Ekitike struck late to seal the win.

Chelsea also survived a scare against Lincoln City, edging a 2-1 win. Elsewhere, Brighton thrashed Barnsley 6-0, while Cardiff City pulled off a shock 2-1 triumph over Burnley.

Other results saw Fulham defeat Cambridge 1-0, Wrexham beat Reading 2-0, Wycombe overcome Wigan 2-0, and Wolves outclass Everton 2-0.

They join the quartet of Brentford, Grimsby Town, Crystal Palace, and Swansea, who had already secured qualification earlier.
