Nigerian clubs Remo Stars and Rivers United now know their positions ahead of the CAF Champions League preliminary round draw. The draw takes place today (Saturday) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with both teams eyeing a strong start to their continental campaigns.

Remo Stars have been placed in Pot 3, while Rivers United are in Pot 7. The seeding will determine their possible opponents as they prepare for the opening stage of Africa’s biggest club football competition.

This year’s tournament will see 62 clubs battling for glory, with Nigerian fans hoping to witness history, as no team from the country has lifted the trophy since Enyimba’s famous back-to-back victories in 2003 and 2004.

The preliminary round kicks off next month, and all participating clubs will pocket $100,000 at this stage, providing a financial boost before the tough battles ahead.

Both Nigerian sides will be hoping for a favourable draw and a winning start to their quest for continental glory.
