CAC UNVEILS FASTER AI-POWERED BUSINESS REGISTRATION, PROMISES 30-MINUTE PROCESSING
Big news for entrepreneurs and businesses in Nigeria!
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a complete overhaul of its Company Registration Portal (CRP), introducing a brand new, AI-powered system that’s set to make registering a business faster and easier than ever.
Speaking at the 2025 Stakeholders’ Forum, the CAC’s Registrar-General, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, revealed that this transformation is designed to take business registration in Nigeria to a whole new level.
Imagine getting your business name approved in minutes — just like opening an email account. That’s exactly what the new system promises. Thanks to advanced Artificial Intelligence, the portal will instantly approve available names and even suggest alternatives if your first choice is taken.
According to Magaji, entrepreneurs can now register a business using just their National Identification Number (NIN). Once processed, it should take only 30 minutes to generate and email the business certificate, provided there are no delays from external agencies like the NIMC. But even there, the CAC has built a clever workaround: AI-powered photo ID matching will handle hiccups quickly.
In addition, the commission is introducing Authentication and OTP (One-Time Password) verification for all transactions. This means no changes can be made to a company’s records without the direct consent of its registered directors — an extra layer of security businesses will surely welcome.
To make things even more seamless, a CAC Mobile App is on the way, expected by the last quarter of this year. This will allow business owners to handle registrations, track progress, and manage transactions right from their phones.
However, Magaji also announced that starting 1st August 2025, there will be a slight upward review of service fees. According to him, this adjustment is necessary to maintain top-notch service delivery and to fund the commission’s ambitious reforms.
Overall, this is a big step forward for ease of doing business in Nigeria. Faster processes, smart AI tools, and mobile convenience mean fewer headaches and more time for entrepreneurs to focus on growing their dreams.
