BURNA BOY: “WITHOUT MUSIC, I COULD HAVE BEEN AN OIL THIEF OR SUICIDE BOMBER”
Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has opened up about what his life could have been like if he hadn’t found music.
In a surprising revelation during an interaction with a fan, the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker admitted he might have gone down dangerous and destructive paths.
“There are many options, I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber, anything including a prostitute,” Burna Boy said.
The statement underscores how music has not only shaped his life but also saved him from potentially destructive choices.
Beyond his candid confession, Burna Boy continues to break records. He recently became Africa’s artist with the most entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, after his collaboration with American rapper Gunna on ‘WGFT’ debuted at number 96 on the chart.
With this, Burna Boy also set another milestone: he is now the first African artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100 in five consecutive years — from 2021 to 2025.
From near-dark possibilities to global stardom, Burna Boy’s journey shows how talent, hard work, and resilience can change a life’s trajectory.
