BURNA BOY: I DON’T DO CRYPTO — IT’S FRAUD, REPORT ANYONE USING MY NAME
Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has come out strongly to distance himself from a meme coin circulating online in his name, calling the scheme outright fraud.
Taking to his Instagram page, the Grammy-winning artist made it clear that he has no involvement whatsoever in any cryptocurrency business. Burna Boy urged his fans to ignore or even report anyone using his name to promote digital coins or similar ventures.
“I don’t do any internet ‘coin’ business. I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that. So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them,” he wrote.
His comments come after a meme coin bearing his name started trending on X (formerly Twitter), sparking curiosity and confusion among his followers.
Burna Boy’s statement serves as a warning to fans and the public to stay alert and avoid falling for scams that misuse celebrity names to lure unsuspecting investors.
It’s not the first time celebrities have had to clear their names from dubious crypto projects, as fraudsters often bank on their popularity to give false legitimacy to questionable ventures.
For Burna Boy, his message is simple: he’s not into crypto, he sees it as a scam, and fans should steer clear of anyone suggesting otherwise.
