English Women’s Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion have applauded their goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, for her outstanding recognition at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Nnadozie secured fourth place in the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year rankings, a category ultimately won by Chelsea and England’s Hannah Hampton.

The Nigerian international made history as the first African and the first Nigerian ever to earn a nomination for the prestigious accolade.

“@NadozieChiamaka is fourth in the #TrophéeYachine rankings at this year’s #BallonDor! Congratulations on your nomination, Chiamaka!,” Brighton posted on X.

In a related development, Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu also finished fourth in the Coach of the Year category, which was won by England’s Sarina Wiegman.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
