BREAKING: US CONDUCTS MILITARY AIRSTRIKES IN NIGERIA, TRUMP ANNOUNCES

President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States carried out military strikes in Nigeria.

Making the announcement on Christmas Day, Trump described the operations as the start of further targeted actions. The airstrikes targeted ISIS-affiliated terrorist hideouts in Sokoto, a northwestern state in Nigeria.

In November 2025, Trump had expressed concern over the killing of Christians in Nigeria’s northwest and north-central regions. He warned that his administration would not allow such attacks to continue and pledged to take decisive action against the perpetrators.

Following discussions with Nigerian authorities regarding the threat, both sides reached agreements on a coordinated approach. On Thursday night, the US announced that it had carried out the strikes in Sokoto Forest.

“In my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS terrorist elements in Northwest Nigeria,” Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He emphasized that under his leadership, there would be no tolerance for radical Islamic terrorism.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
