A passenger bus traveling out of Makurdi has been involved in a serious accident along the Makurdi–Yelewata road, somersaulting into the bush just a few kilometers before Yelewata.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that there were casualties, though the exact number of victims has not yet been determined as rescue operations are still ongoing.

One of the first responders at the scene revealed that he rushed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office in Yelewata to report the incident. However, officers allegedly stated that the location of the crash was outside their jurisdiction and directed him to the Daudu unit instead.

As of the time of this report, the number of injured passengers and fatalities has not been confirmed. Authorities are yet to provide an official statement.

Residents and travelers are advised to reach out urgently to loved ones who may have boarded vehicles from Makurdi earlier today.
