BRAZILIAN BILLIONAIRE REPORTEDLY LEAVES £846M FORTUNE TO NEYMAR DESPITE NEVER MEETING HIM
In a bizarre twist of fate, Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. could be in line to inherit a staggering fortune—despite never having met the man behind it.
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, a billionaire businessman in Porto Alegre has left an estimated £846 million to Neymar in his will. The document was reportedly formalised and authenticated on June 12, with two witnesses present.
The move has shocked many, not least because the businessman is said to have had no personal connection with the 32-year-old footballer. Local reports claim he was childless and single, and admired Neymar deeply for his close relationship with his family, particularly his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father.
While the will has been signed, its execution could face legal hurdles before Neymar can officially be declared the heir.
So far, Neymar has not publicly commented on the news.
The forward, who returned to his boyhood club Santos in January 2025 after a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal, is currently enjoying life back home. During the second half of the 2024–25 season, he managed three goals in 14 appearances for Santos—adding to the 136 goals he scored in his first spell at the club between 2009 and 2013.
If upheld by Brazilian courts, the unusual inheritance could make Neymar one of the wealthiest athletes in the world—not just through football or sponsorship deals, but through the goodwill of a billionaire admirer who simply saw himself in him.
