The Bureau of Public Procurement has commenced preparations for the 2026 promotion exercise for procurement officers on Salary Grade Levels 08 to 13.

The bureau directed ministries, departments and agencies to submit the performance records, eligibility lists and seniority information of officers qualified to participate in the exercise.

The directive was contained in a circular dated September 11, 2026, signed by the Director-General of the BPP, Adebowale Adedokun.

The bureau said officers must have spent at least three years on their current salary grade level to qualify for the promotion exercise.

MDAs were also instructed to verify information including officers’ dates of first appointment, confirmation, present appointment or last promotion, current grade level, performance scores and seniority position.

The BPP said the information would be used to compile and process the eligibility list for the promotion exercise covering Procurement Officers and Executive Officers in the procurement cadre.

It directed the relevant institutions to submit the requested information in both electronic and hard-copy formats, with the returns endorsed by their directors of administration or human resource management.

The bureau set October 16, 2026, as the deadline for submission and urged the affected institutions to treat the process as a priority because of the timelines for organising the promotion exercise.

The exercise forms part of the BPP’s administration of the federal procurement cadre and its efforts to maintain proper personnel records for procurement officers across government institutions.
