BORNO MAN STABS HIMSELF, CUTS OFF PENIS AFTER WIFE REFUSES TO RETURN
A disturbing incident has shocked residents of Bama, Borno State, after a 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, attempted to take his own life following marital issues with his estranged wife.
According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the tragic incident occurred on Friday evening at Hausari Ward, Bama.
Eyewitnesses reported that Isa stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his penis with a knife. The act was said to have been triggered by his frustration after his former wife, Bayanxe Modu from Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, refused to return to his home despite his pleas.
Alarmed by the gruesome scene, community members rushed to Isa’s aid and quickly alerted the authorities. A police patrol team arrived, recovered the knife as evidence, and evacuated Isa to the General Hospital in Bama, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further inquiry.
The shocking event has sparked conversations in the community about emotional health, domestic challenges, and the need for stronger awareness around mental health support. Many residents expressed concern that cases like Isa’s highlight the importance of timely counseling and intervention in troubled marriages.
While Isa remains under medical care, authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.
