The Government of Borno has confirmed that repentant insurgents undergoing rehabilitation under its de-radicalisation programme are made to swear an oath with the Quran before being reintegrated into society.

State officials say the process is part of efforts to ensure commitment to peace and discourage former fighters from returning to insurgency after completing rehabilitation.

According to authorities, the oath-taking ceremony is conducted under strict supervision as part of a broader programme that includes psychological counselling, vocational training, and ideological reorientation.
