BOKO HARAM FIGHTER SURRENDERS IN BORNO

A Boko Haram fighter has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorist reportedly surrendered on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, amid continued military operations aimed at weakening terrorist groups operating across the North-East.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Mohammed Goni, said preliminary information indicated that the fighter had previously operated around the Mandara Mountains, an area along the Nigeria-Cameroon border associated with terrorist activities.

Goni said the fighter was taken into custody and was undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in line with established procedures.

He added that the development reflected the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorist networks and their reduced freedom of movement across the theatre.

According to the military, the surrender also supports efforts to encourage members of terrorist groups still involved in violence to abandon their activities and embrace peace.

Operation Hadin Kai said it would continue operations against terrorist elements across the North-East while working to create conditions for improved security and lasting peace in affected communities.

The military has also urged communities in the region to continue cooperating with security agencies as efforts to restore stability continue.
