BOKO HARAM ABDUCTS 18-YEAR-OLD IN ADAMAWA, TROOPS BEGIN RESCUE OPERATION
Armed men suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists have abducted an 18-year-old teenager, Azura Ayuba, in Kopre village, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on Thursday around 1:25 p.m. when Ayuba and another boy, Augustine (17), went into the bush to fetch firewood. They were suddenly confronted by about 20 insurgents. While Augustine narrowly escaped, Ayuba was taken captive.
Following the abduction, troops of Operation Hadin Kai and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) launched a joint manhunt to track down the terrorists and rescue the victim.
This latest incident comes amid renewed concerns over insurgent activities in parts of the North-East. Earlier this month, the Adamawa State Police Command rescued five male children believed to have been abducted from Borno State and brought to Mubi.
Security forces say operations are ongoing, as they intensify efforts to ensure Ayuba’s safe return and curb terrorist threats in the region.
