BOKKOS GROUP DECRIES KILLINGS, DEMANDS EVICTION OF FULANI IMMIGRANTS AND STRONGER SECURITY
The Bokkos Likeminds Association (BLA) has raised alarm over what it describes as ongoing genocide and relentless attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement signed by its President, Dr. S.T. Nguwap, and General Secretary, Engr. Morgan Mangai, the group condemned the repeated killings, destruction of communities, and displacement of residents by suspected armed Fulani militias.
According to the BLA, hundreds of people have been killed, homes burned, and families forced to abandon their ancestral lands. They described the violence as systematic and organized, warning that it threatens the very survival of Bokkos communities.
The group is calling for urgent intervention from the federal and state governments, security agencies, and international stakeholders. Their demands include:
Eviction of Fulani immigrants without ancestral or legal claims to the land.
A total ban on open grazing, with a shift to modern ranching methods.
Stricter immigration enforcement and tighter border controls.
Constitutional recognition of indigenous rights and the right to self-defence.
The BLA stressed that immediate action is needed to restore peace, justice, and security, urging authorities to protect residents and ensure perpetrators face justice.
