The Bank of Industry (BOI) has successfully electrified 100 rural communities across Nigeria, connecting 11,777 households and businesses to reliable electricity through its renewable energy and rural electrification initiatives.

The projects, executed in partnership with local governments and private developers, utilised solar mini-grids and hybrid systems to provide sustainable power to previously off-grid areas. BOI Managing Director, Mr. Olukayode Pitan, described the achievement as a significant contribution to the government’s energy access goals. “Bringing light to these communities is transforming lives and creating economic opportunities,” Pitan said.

The initiative has boosted small businesses, improved healthcare delivery, and enhanced educational outcomes in beneficiary areas. BOI plans to scale up similar projects in the coming years to reach more unserved populations.

The development aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to increasing electricity access and promoting clean energy solutions.

Stakeholders have commended the bank for its role in bridging the energy gap and supporting rural development.
