BOI-BACKED PROGRAMME OFFERS $350,000 TO TECH STARTUPS
The Bank of Industry (BoI) has launched a new programme offering $350,000 in funding to support promising technology startups in Nigeria.
The initiative aims to provide early-stage capital, mentorship, and business development support to innovative companies working on solutions in fintech, agritech, healthtech, and other high-impact sectors. BoI officials noted that the programme is designed to bridge the funding gap faced by many young tech entrepreneurs and accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
Eligible startups will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and compete for the grants, with successful applicants receiving both financial support and access to a network of industry experts. The bank emphasised its commitment to fostering innovation and job creation through strategic investments in the technology sector.
Stakeholders welcomed the programme, describing it as a timely intervention that could help position Nigeria as a leading tech hub in Africa. They urged more financial institutions to emulate BoI’s approach in supporting the startup ecosystem.
Applications for the programme are expected to open soon, with detailed guidelines to be released by the Bank of Industry.
