BISSOUMA FINDS NEW CLUB AFTER TOTTENHAM EXIT, JOINS AJAX
Former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has completed a move to Dutch giants Ajax after leaving the Premier League club as a free agent in June. The 30-year-old Mali international has signed an initial contract running until the end of the 2026/27 season, with Ajax holding an option to extend the agreement for another year.
Bissouma had been without a club since his Tottenham contract expired at the end of last season. He joined Spurs from Brighton in 2022 and made 111 appearances for the north London club during his four-year spell, including the campaign in which Tottenham won the Europa League.
His final season at Tottenham was disrupted by injuries and disciplinary issues, limiting him to 11 Premier League appearances. The midfielder was eventually released by the club when his contract expired in June, bringing his time in England to an end.
Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff said the club had been in discussions with Bissouma since August and welcomed the experience he brings to the squad. He added that the midfielder is capable of playing in several positions and that the club hopes he will be available for selection soon.
The move gives Bissouma an opportunity to restart his career in the Netherlands and return to regular competitive football. Ajax will hope the experienced midfielder can strengthen their midfield options as they continue their 2026/27 campaign.
