A Nigerian technology startup, BetriqAI, is transforming how users engage with data by deploying artificial intelligence to automate complex analysis and deliver actionable, probability-based insights.

The Abuja-based company has developed an AI-powered platform that processes vast amounts of historical data across more than 50 global football leagues, including major European competitions and the Nigerian Professional Football League. It generates forecasts on match outcomes by evaluating team form, head-to-head records, and other key variables—eliminating the need for manual number-crunching or reliance on intuition.

Founder Nicholas Adesina explained that the tool was created to democratise advanced analytics for everyday users, particularly football enthusiasts who previously struggled with fragmented information and unreliable predictions. “Football fans have spent years crunching numbers, only to end up with unreliable predictions. We built BetriqAI to put sophisticated sports data into everyone’s hands,” he said.

The platform presents results as statistical probabilities and risk categories rather than definitive outcomes, promoting informed decision-making. Head of Product Stephanie Momoh noted that the system conceals complex mathematics behind user-friendly insights.

BetriqAI, founded in 2024, rigorously tested its algorithm on over 8,000 match scenarios against historical data before public launch. The startup aims to expand its AI applications beyond sports into broader consumer and business analytics, making data-driven insights accessible without requiring specialist expertise.

This innovation highlights Nigeria’s growing deep-tech ecosystem, where startups are harnessing AI to solve everyday challenges and empower users with smarter tools for decision-making in an increasingly data-rich world.
