Francisca Ordega Gets ₦50m, Apartment, and Street Named in Her Honour

Super Falcons forward Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON) has received a royal welcome back home, as the Benue State Government showered her with cash, property, and lasting recognition for her heroics at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

At a grand reception held in Makurdi on Wednesday night, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia announced a ₦50 million cash prize, the naming of a street after Ordega, and the allocation of a three-bedroom apartment in the heart of the state capital.

The celebration was organized to honour her pivotal role in helping Nigeria clinch the WAFCON 2024 trophy—a win that cemented the Super Falcons’ dominance in African women’s football.

“Francisca Ordega has made Benue State and Nigeria proud. Her commitment, discipline, and talent deserve to be celebrated. This is our little way of saying thank you,” Governor Alia said.

The evening was filled with applause, cultural displays, and heartfelt tributes, as fans and dignitaries alike hailed the football star not just for her on-field skills, but also for inspiring young athletes across Benue and Nigeria.

Ordega’s journey from the streets of Benue to the pinnacle of African football is a testament to hard work and resilience—and now, her name will be etched permanently in the heart of her hometown.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
