BECE RESUMES IN LAGOS AFTER TEMPORARY ORO FESTIVAL SUSPENSION

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has resumed across Lagos State following a temporary suspension earlier caused by the observance of the Oro festival in some communities.

Education authorities confirmed that examination activities continued after adjustments were made to accommodate cultural and traditional observances in affected areas, ensuring minimal disruption to students.

Officials said the temporary pause was necessary in some locations due to restrictions associated with the Oro festival, which is traditionally observed in parts of Lagos and other southwestern states.

According to the state education board, examination centres were properly rescheduled and coordinated to ensure that candidates were not disadvantaged by the interruption.

Authorities emphasized that the welfare and academic progress of students remain a top priority, adding that all affected candidates were given the opportunity to complete their papers without penalty.

Parents and school administrators were urged to remain calm and cooperate with examination officials as arrangements were put in place to ensure smooth continuation of the exercise.
