BAUCHI STEPMOTHER ARRESTED FOR TORTURING 5-YEAR-OLD OVER BEDWETTING
A housewife, Rabi Nuhu, has been arrested for allegedly inflicting severe burns on her five-year-old stepdaughter in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The assault was reportedly triggered by the child’s bedwetting.
The victim, who lost her biological mother a year ago, had been living with her father, Mohammed Umar, and the suspect. Reports indicate that she endured repeated violence before the abuse was uncovered.
According to accounts, the child confided in her uncle after suffering several assaults, explaining that her stepmother burned her private parts because she could not stop bedwetting. Her uncle later reported the incident to the police.
Confirming the case, Bauchi Police spokesperson, CSP Mohammed Wakil, said the report was filed on September 13, 2025, at about 3:00 p.m. He stated that the child sustained burns on her lower abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Wakil added that the Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect and directed that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a detailed probe.
This incident comes less than a week after another woman was accused of attacking her 10-year-old sister-in-law with a hot knife over allegations of witchcraft.
