BAUCHI POLICE TO RESUME TINTED GLASS ENFORCEMENT FROM JANUARY 2, 2026

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced that enforcement of laws regulating tinted vehicle glass will resume across the state starting January 2, 2026.

Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, stated that the decision follows a review of security concerns and the need to enhance public safety. He added that enforcement had been temporarily suspended to give motorists time to regularise their tinted glass documentation.

Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured the public that the operation would be conducted professionally, lawfully, and with respect for citizens’ rights. Motorists are advised to obtain the required Tinted Glass Permit and comply with regulations to avoid penalties.

The resumption aligns with a broader national and regional security strategy. Bauchi has recently seen a surge in serious crimes, including mass kidnappings and vehicle-related thefts. Authorities note that unauthorised tinted glass can provide a “cloak of invisibility” for criminals transporting weapons or victims through checkpoints undetected.

Police have urged residents to cooperate with officers to ensure smooth enforcement and stressed that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety in the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
