BAUCHI NDC CANDIDATE DEFECTS TO PRP
The New Nigeria Democratic Congress Assembly candidate in Bauchi State has resigned from the party and joined the Peoples Redemption Party.
The candidate announced the defection while citing reasons for leaving the NDC and expressing confidence in the PRP’s political platform.
The move is expected to generate fresh political interest in the state as political parties and their candidates begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The former NDC candidate said the decision was made after careful consideration of the political environment and his desire to pursue his political ambitions under a platform he believes better aligns with his interests.
He was subsequently received into the PRP by party leaders and supporters in Bauchi.
The development could affect the political calculations within the constituency, particularly as parties work to strengthen their structures and attract influential members ahead of the elections.
PRP leaders welcomed the new member and expressed optimism that his experience and support base would contribute to the party’s growth in the state.
The party also called on other politicians and residents to support its programmes and political agenda.
The defection comes amid increasing political realignments across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, with politicians moving between parties and various groups negotiating alliances.
The former candidate pledged to work with the PRP leadership and members to strengthen the party’s presence in Bauchi.
He urged his supporters to join him in the new political platform and remain committed to his political aspirations.
