BARCELONA STAGES DRAMATIC COMEBACK TO HOLD INTER MILAN IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL THRILLER
Barcelona and Inter Milan played out a six-goal spectacle in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, with the Spanish giants fighting back from two goals down to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw at Camp Nou.
The match delivered everything fans could hope for — early goals, end-to-end action, standout performances, and a touch of controversy — setting up a tantalizing second leg in Milan.
Inter Milan got off to a dream start, silencing the Camp Nou crowd just one minute into the game. Denzel Dumfries delivered a pinpoint cross, and Marcus Thuram finished with a stylish back-heel past Marc-André ter Stegen to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Barcelona’s problems deepened in the 22nd minute when Dumfries struck again, capitalizing on a header from Francesco Acerbi to double Inter’s advantage and leave the hosts trailing 2-0.
Just two minutes later, Barcelona found a lifeline through their 16-year-old sensation, Lamine Yamal. The young forward embarked on a dazzling solo run, slicing through defenders before firing a low shot that went in off the post to make it 2-1.
Yamal nearly added a second moments later, forcing a brilliant save from Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The pressure paid off in the 38th minute when Raphinha curled in a precise ball for Ferran Torres, who calmly slotted home to complete the comeback and bring the score to 2-2 before halftime.
Inter regained control in the 64th minute, with Dumfries completing a memorable night by heading home his second goal from a corner to restore their lead at 3-2.
But Barcelona responded almost instantly. Raphinha’s long-range strike cannoned off the crossbar, and in a stroke of misfortune for Inter, the rebound hit Sommer and bounced into his own net — leveling the match at 3-3.
The match wasn’t done delivering drama. In the 75th minute, Inter believed they had found a fourth goal through Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed for offside during the build-up — sparking heated protests from the Inter dugout.
Barcelona continued to push forward, with Raphinha’s free-kick forcing another fine save from Sommer. In added time, the Swiss goalkeeper again came to Inter’s rescue, pulling off a stunning reflex stop to deny Raphinha’s late effort.
With the first leg ending in a thrilling stalemate, the tie is finely balanced heading into the second leg at the San Siro. Barcelona will take confidence from their spirited fightback, while Inter will aim to make home advantage count in what promises to be another unforgettable night of European football.
