BARCELONA FINALLY REGISTER RASHFORD FOR LALIGA OPENER AGAINST MALLORCA
Barcelona fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Marcus Rashford has been officially registered with LaLiga ahead of their opening clash against Mallorca on Saturday.
The Catalan giants had been racing against time to create enough salary space to include the England international in their squad. Manager Hansi Flick had earlier admitted he was unhappy with the uncertainty surrounding Rashford’s availability.
However, on Friday, the club completed key financial moves that allowed it to finalize the registration:
Francisco Trincão’s remaining 50% rights were sold to Sporting CP for €11 million.
Jules Koundé signed a new contract, which spread the amortization payments on his €55m transfer over an additional three years.
These deals freed up the room needed to get Rashford officially cleared.
Rashford, who joined Barcelona last month on a season-long loan from Manchester United, is now set to make his debut for the Spanish champions in their first league game of the season.
