BARCELONA AIMING TO PUT REAL MADRID OUT OF SIGHT IN CLASICO
Barcelona will aim to move nine points clear of Real Madrid when the rivals meet at Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25.
Hansi Flick’s side currently hold a six-point advantage over third-placed Madrid, giving the Spanish champions an opportunity to strengthen their position in the title race.
However, Barcelona enter the encounter after suffering their first defeat of the season against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Madrid, meanwhile, have won four consecutive matches, including a convincing victory over RB Leipzig, and arrive with growing momentum under José Mourinho.
Barcelona’s attacking threat remains a major strength, with Raphinha available again and Lamine Yamal in impressive form.
Their defensive preparations are less straightforward. Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen are sidelined, while Jules Kounde is doubtful. Midfielder Dani Olmo is also unavailable.
Flick has acknowledged costly mistakes in possession following the defeat in Paris.
Madrid will be without the suspended Vinicius Junior, leaving Mourinho with decisions over his attacking line-up and midfield balance.
A Barcelona victory would create a substantial gap between the rivals. A Madrid win would cut the deficit to three points and tighten the race.
