BANDITS KILL VIGILANTE LEADER, OTHERS IN FRESH KATSINA ATTACK
Tragedy struck Danzangi community in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday night, as armed bandits launched a deadly attack that claimed several lives — including that of a respected vigilante commander known as Oga Ali.
The brutal invasion has left the community in deep mourning, with fears growing over the worsening insecurity in the region.
A well-known security analyst, Bakastine, shared the sad news on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, confirming the death of the vigilante leader and other community members.
He raised alarm over the escalating attacks in the area, warning that if urgent security steps are not taken, the Dutsin-Ma–Katsina highway — a key route — could soon become too dangerous to use due to the rising activities of criminal gangs.
The incident has sparked fresh calls for authorities to beef up security in rural communities and support local vigilante groups who risk their lives daily to defend residents.
