BANDITS KILL SOLDIERS, VIGILANTES IN FRESH AMBUSH IN PLATEAU’S WASE LGA
Fresh Tragedy in Plateau as Bandits Ambush Vigilante Team, Kill Four in Wase
Just weeks after over 70 vigilante members were brutally killed in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, bandits have launched another deadly ambush in the same region, leaving two soldiers and two vigilante members dead.
The latest attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Dogon Ruwa community, located in the Bashar District. According to local sources, the vigilante team, accompanied by soldiers, had responded to a distress call about a planned attack on the community. While pursuing the armed gang, they were ambushed by the bandits, who opened heavy fire.
Tragically, two soldiers and two vigilante members lost their lives in the ambush. The attackers didn’t stop there—they also made away with the rifles and uniforms of the slain soldiers.
Village head Abdullahi Yakubu confirmed the incident, explaining that the local security team had moved swiftly after reports of suspicious movement near the community. Unfortunately, their pursuit led them straight into a well-planned ambush.
“We alerted the security team when we got reports of a possible attack. They responded quickly, but sadly, they were caught off guard,” Yakubu said.
The incident has thrown the already tense region into further panic. The Dogon Ruwa community and surrounding areas have suffered repeated attacks in recent months, raising serious concerns about the worsening security situation in Wase LGA.
Residents are now calling for urgent reinforcement and sustained military presence to protect communities from further bloodshed. As families mourn yet again, the need for a decisive response to end the wave of violence becomes even more critical.
