Tragedy struck Wake village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, September 7, 2025, after armed bandits launched a deadly attack in the early hours of the morning.

At least eight people were killed, while 20 others sustained varying degrees of injuries, some of them in critical condition. The assailants also kidnapped an unspecified number of residents, worsening the grief and fear in the community.

As of press time, villagers were conducting burials for the deceased, while efforts were underway to provide care for the severely injured victims currently receiving treatment at St. Gerald Hospital.

Local officials, including the Chairman of Kachia LGA, Hon. Manzo Daniel Maigari, his Vice Chairman, Hon. Peter Agite, and a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Kachia constituency, visited the survivors at the hospital to show support and offer humanitarian assistance.

The exact number of those abducted has yet to be confirmed, and the Kaduna State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

This attack adds to the growing wave of insecurity in Southern Kaduna, leaving residents fearful and calling for urgent government intervention to protect vulnerable communities.
