BANDITS KILL 14, ABDUCT OTHERS IN FRESH ATTACK ON ZAMFARA FARMING COMMUNITY
Zamfara State has once again been thrown into mourning following a deadly bandit attack that claimed the lives of at least 14 people in Jangebe, a farming community in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
The victims included five members of the Zamfara Community Protection Guards (ZCPG), their commander Garba Dogo, and nine local farmers, all of whom were reportedly killed while working on their farmlands on Friday afternoon.
The tragic incident was confirmed by a well-known security analyst, Bakatsine, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“This afternoon, bandits attacked farmers in Jangebe, Talata Mafara LGA, Zamfara State, killing 9 people including 5 ZCPG and their commander, Garba Dogo. Several people were also abducted.”
The exact number of abducted persons is yet to be confirmed, but residents fear the number could be high, given the time and location of the attack.
This latest assault highlights the worsening security situation in Zamfara, where farming communities have become regular targets of armed bandits who kill, kidnap, and terrorize locals, especially during the rainy season when people are back on their farms.
The Zamfara Community Protection Guards, a local vigilante outfit created to support state security forces, has now lost several of its members to the violence they were set up to prevent.
So far, there has been no official response from security agencies or the state government regarding the attack.
As communities in Zamfara continue to live in fear, residents are calling on the government and military to act urgently to protect lives and restore peace to the region.
