BANDITS ATTACK KATSINA VILLAGE, KILL VIGILANTES AND CIVILIANS, ABDUCT RESIDENTS
Another tragic day unfolded in Katsina State as armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Gidan Gona village, located in the Tafoki district of Faskari Local Government Area, leaving several people dead and many others missing.
The attack, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, led to a violent gun battle between the armed attackers and members of the Community Watch Corps (CWC) alongside local vigilante groups who tried to defend the village.
Sadly, the bandits overpowered the defenders, killing several vigilantes and civilians in the process. Some villagers also sustained injuries, while an unknown number of residents were abducted and taken away into the nearby bush.
Security analyst Bakatsine shared details of the incident via a post on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the intense exchange of gunfire and the tragic outcome:
“Yesterday afternoon, bandits attacked Gidan Gona village in Tafoki district, Faskari LGA, Katsina State. A fierce gun battle with Vigilantes and CWC left several operatives and civilians dead, some injured and many abducted.”
The latest attack highlights the growing insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where rural communities continue to face relentless threats from armed groups, despite ongoing security efforts.
Residents are now calling for urgent government intervention and increased security presence to prevent further bloodshed and restore peace to the area.
