Fear has gripped the Lata-Nna community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State after armed bandits struck on Friday night, abducting two residents.

The victims have been identified as Alhaji Adam Gbechi and Alhaji Aji Hajaworo. According to community sources, the attackers stormed the area late in the night and whisked the men away. As of the time of this report, the bandits have yet to contact the victims’ families.

This incident comes barely 24 hours after another attack on communities in the Lafiagi Emirate, sparking growing concern over the rising wave of abductions in the region.

It was gathered that youths in Lafiagi had planned a protest over the frequent attacks, but the leadership of the Lafiagi Descendants Development Union (LADDU) urged them to shelve the idea, warning that demonstrations could be hijacked by hoodlums.

The latest abduction has left residents anxious, with many calling on security agencies to act swiftly. Locals say they have resorted to prayers for the safe return of the victims and for divine protection from further attacks.

Efforts to reach security officials in the state for comments proved unsuccessful as of press time.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
