BANDIT ATTACK REPELLED IN PLATEAU VILLAGE, 4 SECURITY OPERATIVES KILLED
Two Soldiers, Two CJTF Members Killed as Security Forces Foil Bandit Attack in Plateau
A tragic yet heroic scene unfolded in Dogon Ruwa village, located in Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, as a group of bandits launched an armed attack on the community on Monday, July 29.
Thanks to the swift response from a joint team of Nigerian Army personnel, police officers, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), the attackers were quickly engaged in a gun battle and eventually repelled.
Eyewitnesses report that the bandits stormed the village in broad daylight, firing indiscriminately in an attempt to overrun the area. However, they were met with superior firepower and determination from the security team stationed nearby.
Despite the successful defense of the village, the encounter came at a heavy cost. Two soldiers and two CJTF operatives tragically lost their lives during the shootout. Their bravery, however, prevented what could have been a much larger massacre.
In response to the incident, reinforcements from Operation Safe Haven have been deployed to the area, and a bush-combing operation is currently ongoing to locate and apprehend the fleeing attackers.
Authorities have reassured the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property and have called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements.
The government and local leaders have also expressed their condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, hailing their sacrifice in the defense of peace and safety in Plateau State.
