BAECC NAMES ONWODI AS NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
The Benin-Asaba Expressway Concession Company Limited has appointed a public-private partnership specialist, Dr Chinedu Onwodi, as its new Chief Operating Officer. The company said the appointment reflects its efforts to strengthen its operational leadership as it continues work on the development and management of the Benin-Asaba Expressway concession.
Onwodi is described as an experienced professional in public-private partnerships, infrastructure development and project management. His career has involved work across infrastructure and investment-related projects, giving him experience in coordinating complex initiatives involving government institutions, private investors and other stakeholders.
In his new position, he is expected to play a key role in the company's operational activities and contribute to the effective implementation of the expressway concession. His responsibilities will include supporting the coordination of projects, strengthening operational processes and working with relevant stakeholders involved in the development of the road infrastructure.
The Benin-Asaba Expressway is an important transport corridor linking Edo and Delta states and serves as a major route for the movement of people and goods in the South-South region. The concession arrangement is designed to bring private-sector participation into the development, financing, operation and maintenance of the road while improving transportation infrastructure along the corridor.
The company said Onwodi’s appointment is expected to add further technical and managerial capacity to its leadership as the concession progresses. His experience in PPPs and infrastructure development is expected to support BAECC’s efforts to deliver on its mandate and improve the effectiveness of the concession in line with the objectives of the project.
