ATTACK ON EL-RUFAI COULD DESTABILIZE NIGERIA, ADC WARNS APC

The Imo State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Professor James Okoroma, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of masterminding the recent attack on former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking in an interview with Arise News on Thursday, Okoroma alleged that hoodlums who disrupted an event attended by El-Rufai were sponsored, paid, and transported in hired buses.

“From our independent investigations, it is actually the handwork of the APC, worried about the growing political influence of the ADC,” Okoroma claimed.

He added that the attackers carried placards and equipment allegedly financed by APC sponsors.

“The hoodlums were paid. Somebody paid for those buses, somebody paid for the placards, and somebody motivated those people who came,” he insisted.

Okoroma described the incident as part of a larger pattern of political violence in the country, warning that such actions, especially against El-Rufai — now an influential figure in the ADC coalition — could destabilize Nigeria’s fragile democracy.

The ADC chieftain urged the APC-led government to redirect its energy toward addressing pressing issues like the economy, poverty, and infrastructure instead of allegedly attacking political opponents.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
