ATLETICO MADRID FILE COMPLAINT TO UEFA OVER LACK OF HOT WATER AT EMIRATES AHEAD OF ARSENAL CLASH
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have filed an official complaint to UEFA after being left without hot water at the Emirates Stadium following their training session ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Arsenal.
According to Marca, Diego Simeone’s men trained in rainy London conditions on Monday evening but were unable to shower before departing the stadium due to a lack of hot water in the dressing room facilities.
The incident occurred after the team arrived around 5:30 p.m., with Atletico staff immediately notifying Arsenal’s ground personnel about the issue. However, the problem reportedly remained unresolved throughout the session.
Sources within the club described the situation as “unacceptable,” expressing surprise that such an issue could occur at one of Europe’s most modern stadiums during an elite UEFA competition.
Players and coaching staff were reportedly forced to return to their team hotel to shower and prepare for the upcoming match.
Atletico Madrid have since submitted a formal protest to UEFA, insisting that the situation failed to meet the minimum hospitality and infrastructure standards expected for Champions League fixtures.
UEFA is yet to comment on the matter, while Arsenal have not released an official statement as of press time.
The incident adds tension to what is already expected to be a heated encounter between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in Tuesday night’s clash.
