ATIKU WARNS AGAINST COORDINATED FAKE NEWS TARGETING HIM, ADC
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns over a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at undermining his political influence and disrupting momentum within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued Tuesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku dismissed reports claiming he held a national-level meeting with ADC stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections, describing them as “malicious” and “fabricated.” He clarified that his only recent engagements were with stakeholders in Adamawa State.
Atiku emphasized that any major political decisions would be formally communicated, not through “anonymous leaks” or “faceless propaganda.” He warned that the false reports were part of a broader attempt to create confusion within the opposition and weaken emerging political alignments ahead of the elections.
The former Vice President stressed that he remains a central figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, with ongoing discussions and alignments often revolving around him. He described the disinformation campaign as a reaction by “anti-democratic elements” unsettled by his growing political relevance.
Atiku urged his supporters, ADC members, and Nigerians to disregard the reports and stay focused on efforts to reposition the country, noting, “No amount of disinformation will halt this movement. The determination of Nigerians far outweighs the fear of those who have failed them.”
