ATIKU CHALLENGES TINUBU TO NAME MINISTERS, APPOINTEES INVOLVED IN ALLEGED BRIBERY
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu to identify those who allegedly received billions of naira from ministers seeking appointments.
His demand followed claims by APC Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson Alwan Hassan that some ministers pay huge sums to secure positions and then concentrate on recovering the money after taking office.
Reacting in a post on X on Friday, Atiku questioned who received the alleged payments and urged the President to provide answers.
“You appointed them, so who received the money? Nigerians deserve names, not silence,” he wrote.
Hassan made the allegation during an interview on Arise News on Thursday while discussing Tinubu’s record ahead of the 2027 general election.
“A lot of ministers pay billions to be appointed, and the first thing they think of is how to recoup that money after being appointed,” Hassan said.
He maintained that the alleged practice existed before the APC came to power. However, the account provided did not identify any minister, alleged recipient or evidence supporting the claim.
Atiku also criticised the administration’s economic decisions, blaming them for the rising cost of living. He further alleged that distrust of ministers had led the government to withhold ministry funds, leaving Nigerians to bear the consequences.
The bribery claims remain allegations. No response from the Presidency or the ministers concerned was included in the report.
