ASAKE: BEING HUMBLE AS AN ARTISTE IS OFTEN MISTAKEN FOR WEAKNESS

Nigerian singer Asake has shared his perspective on humility in the entertainment industry, saying it is often mistaken for weakness.

In a viral TikTok video, the hitmaker explained to a friend that artistes who carry themselves with pride tend to be more respected and admired by fans compared to those who remain humble.

“As an artiste, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego they feel like you’re not accessible, then they like you more,” he said.

Asake further pointed out that audiences rarely appreciate the process behind an artiste’s work. Instead, they are more focused on the final product. According to him, trying to explain or showcase the hard work that goes into music is not usually valued.

“People would rather see what you’re doing than how you’re doing it. They don’t really appreciate the process. Do what you need to do and just go,” he added.

The statement has since stirred mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that confidence is necessary for survival in the industry, while others argue that humility remains a timeless value.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
