ARTETA EXPLAINS WHY ARSENAL FELL 2–0 TO MAN CITY IN CARABAO CUP FINAL
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted that Manchester City made the most of key moments in their 2-0 victory during Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
Nico O'Reilly netted twice in the second half, heading home both goals to secure City’s first trophy of the season at Wembley.
Speaking after the match, Arteta reflected on missed opportunities, particularly in the opening half where Arsenal failed to convert their chances.
“There were different phases in the game,” he said. “We had some really strong moments in the first half, including the clearest chance of the match, which could have put us 1-0 ahead and changed the direction of the game.
“In the second half, we struggled in the opening 20 minutes to break out, apply effective pressure, and manage possession better when we had it.
“We conceded in an unexpected way, and shortly after, they scored again under similar circumstances.
“Credit has to go to them—they took advantage when they were on top, and we didn’t.”
