ARSENAL’S KABIA JOINS SHREWSBURY, LIVERPOOL SEND MCCONNELL ON LOAN TO AJAX
Arsenal and Liverpool have both confirmed outgoing transfer moves ahead of their Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.
Arsenal announced that Ismeal Kabia has joined League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old winger, who joined Arsenal’s academy in 2017, recently signed his second professional contract with the Gunners. Last season, Kabia was named on the bench 13 times across the Premier League and Champions League before finally making his senior debut in a Carabao Cup 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers. The loan move is expected to give him valuable first-team experience.
Liverpool, on the other hand, confirmed that James McConnell has sealed a loan move to Ajax for the rest of the 2025/26 season. Before his switch, the 20-year-old midfielder signed a new long-term deal with the Reds, reaffirming the club’s faith in his future.
McConnell, who joined Liverpool from Sunderland at U15 level, has risen steadily through the ranks and already has 13 senior appearances under his belt. At Ajax, he will work under the guidance of former Liverpool coach John Heitinga, now managing the Dutch giants.
Both loan moves are seen as strategic opportunities for the youngsters to gain more playing time and senior-level experience before returning to their parent clubs.
