Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has called on his teammates to turn the pain of their last-minute defeat to Arsenal into motivation for securing the club’s first win of the season against Brentford.

Arokodare’s 90th-minute header seemed to have earned Rob Edwards’ side a point at the Emirates, only for a 94th-minute own goal by Yerson Mosquera to hand Wolves another heartbreaking loss.

The Nigerian forward believes the team can overcome such setbacks by claiming three points in their final game before Christmas at Molineux this weekend.

“You can’t really get over it,” Arokodare said. “I think the only way to move on is to go into the next game and try to win it. That’s how you forget the little heartbreaks like this. We just have to channel that pain into the next match and aim for the three points.”

After the Arsenal game, Arokodare described the late concession as “hurtful” and pointed to defensive errors as the reason.

“It’s hurtful. It’s been happening all season. We play very well for 90 minutes, but at the end we always concede. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s very painful,” he said. “This has happened multiple times this season. We need to stay focused until the final whistle. It’s been very unlucky for us.”

Wolves have conceded four own goals this season, the most in the Premier League, with defensive lapses repeatedly undermining their performances.

The summer signing, who was left out of Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 2025 AFCON, is now concentrating on helping Wolves fight for Premier League survival.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
