ARNE SLOT CONFIRMS LIVERPOOL FUTURE, PLANS SUMMER REBUILD AS ELLIOTT SET FOR RETURN
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed confidence that he will remain in charge of the club beyond the current season, as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign gather momentum at Anfield.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch coach spoke firmly about his future when questioned, insisting there is no uncertainty around his position at the club.
“I have every reason to believe I will be the Liverpool manager next season,” Slot said, signaling stability as the club continues its transition following the departure of long-time boss Jürgen Klopp.
Slot also revealed that Liverpool’s planning for the next season is already in motion, with recruitment discussions actively ongoing ahead of the summer transfer window.
“The plans for next season have been made, talks are ongoing between the club and new players, and I am involved in that,” he explained.
His comments are expected to ease concerns among supporters as the club looks to strengthen key areas of the squad and build consistency under a new managerial era.
Meanwhile, Slot confirmed that midfielder Harvey Elliott will return to Liverpool’s first-team setup for pre-season after an underwhelming loan spell at Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old managed limited game time during his loan stint under Unai Emery, featuring for just 284 minutes across competitions.
“He’s contracted to us so he will be with us at the start of the season,” Slot said.
The loan move was intended to provide Elliott with more regular playing time and accelerate his development, but Slot admitted the outcome did not meet expectations for any of the parties involved.
“I think for him, for everyone, it didn’t work out as he wanted it, as we wanted it and probably also how Villa wanted it, because you usually sign a player or bring him in on loan to use him,” he added.
Liverpool are now expected to reassess squad depth and loan decisions as part of a broader rebuild strategy heading into the new season under Slot’s leadership.
