ARMY RESCUES MOTHER, INFANT AND THREE OTHERS IN KATSINA
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued five abducted victims, including a mother and her infant, during an operation in Katsina State.
The Nigerian Army said the troops acted on intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists around Madaci Forest in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
According to the military, the operation caused confusion among the suspected terrorists, allowing the troops to rescue the victims.
Those rescued included a mother and her infant, as well as three other minors and young adults abducted from Danja and Funtua Local Government Areas.
The victims were later handed over to the Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Abubakar Musa, for reunification with their families.
In a separate operation in Sokoto State, troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area.
The troops reportedly engaged the attackers after receiving intelligence about suspicious movements, forcing them to retreat.
The fleeing attackers abandoned a large herd of rustled livestock, which was later returned to its owners through an initiative facilitated by the Shagari Local Government chairman and the local district head.
The military said troops were maintaining patrols in the affected areas as part of efforts to restrict criminal activities and restore normalcy.
