ARMY RECOVERS ARMS, ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS IN DELTA

Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, have recovered arms and arrested two suspects during an operation in Ogidigben Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

The operation followed reports of sporadic gunshots in the community.

 

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade Nigerian Army, Asaba, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau.

 

According to the statement, troops acted swiftly on credible intelligence and carried out the operation successfully.

 

During the raid, soldiers recovered four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, ten machetes, and four rain boots.

 

The army spokesman said the two suspects arrested during the operation are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

 

The Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism.

 

He charged them to sustain the operational momentum against criminal elements in the region.

 

Shonibare also reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to denying criminals freedom of operation across the area.

 

He warned individuals or groups in possession of illegal arms or involved in criminal activities to desist, adding that security forces would intensify efforts to track down offend
