ARMY OFFICER DIES AFTER BEING SET ABLAZE BY WIFE IN AKWA IBOM
A tragic incident has rocked the Nigerian Army community after an officer, Lieutenant Samson Haruna, reportedly died from severe burns inflicted by his wife during a domestic altercation in Akwa Ibom State.
The shocking event occurred on September 22, 2025, at Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, in Abak Local Government Area.
According to reports shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the couple had a heated argument that escalated dramatically. During the dispute, Mrs. Haruna allegedly poured petrol (PMS) on her husband and set him ablaze.
Lt. Haruna, who was also a medical doctor attached to the 6 Battalion as a Regimental Medical Officer (RMO), sustained severe burns and was quickly rushed to the Military Reference Section (MRS) for emergency care. He was later transferred to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of medical personnel.
Military authorities have confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
