ARMY, IMMIGRATION INTENSIFY BORDER PATROLS TO CURB INSECURITY IN YOBE

The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Immigration Service have strengthened security operations along border communities in Yobe State as part of efforts to prevent illegal entry, cross-border crimes and other security threats.

The renewed collaboration followed an inspection of border areas by the Commander of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General G. O. Adesina, alongside the Yobe State Comptroller of Immigration, Abdullahi Ibrahim. The officials assessed security arrangements and interacted with personnel deployed to the border areas.

The inspection provided an opportunity for the security agencies to evaluate existing measures and identify areas where greater coordination may be required. Both organisations emphasised the importance of maintaining effective surveillance along the state’s border corridors.

The collaboration is particularly significant given the security challenges confronting parts of the North-East, where security agencies continue to work to prevent the movement of criminal elements and other threats across territorial boundaries.

The authorities also stressed the need for personnel stationed at the borders to remain vigilant and professional while carrying out their responsibilities. Intelligence gathering and information sharing between the military and immigration authorities are expected to remain central to the operations.

Community cooperation is also considered important to the success of the security measures, as residents living around border areas can provide useful information about suspicious movements and activities.

The strengthened border operations are expected to complement ongoing military and other security efforts across Yobe State, while helping to safeguard communities and maintain stability in the region.

The security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to working together to protect lives and property and prevent criminal activities from exploiting the state's border corridors.
